
Secondary board results out, colleges in Jamshedpur have geared up to start intermediate admissions in arts, commerce and science this week.
Students are already making a beeline to colleges to ask about admission forms.
Mango-based Karim City College, which has already started issuing forms from May 20, has decided on a 75 per cent cut-off for pure science and 60 per cent for bio science, commerce and arts.
"We make sure students applying for pure science score high marks or else it gets tough for them to cope up with the syllabus later," said Md Riyaz, Karim City College controller of examinations.
Jamshedpur Cooperative College in CH Area will start issuing forms from May 26 for all streams with 60 per cent cut-off marks in science and commerce and 55 per cent in arts. Admissions will start from June 5.
Jamshedpur Women's College has kept a uniform cut-off of 60 per cent for all streams and will start issuing forms from June 1. The Graduate School College for Women in Sakchi will start issuing forms from June 1 to June 20. Here, 50 per cent is the cut-off for science and arts and 65 per cent for commerce, said principal Usha Shukla.
ABM College in Golmuri will start issuing forms for commerce and arts from June first week, with 60 and 50 per cent cut-offs, respectively.
For UG admissions, students will have to apply online to Kolhan University from this year on. Centralised admission will start next month. The varsity will decide the cut-off per cent depending on subjects. Students will have to fill up three colleges of their preference after which they will be allotted seats based on availability and their merit.
"Since this is the first online UG admission, Kolhan University has asked us to provide a helpdesk with a teacher who can assist students," said Jamshedpur Cooperative College principal S.S. Razi. Kolhan University has asked colleges to submit the number of seats and teachers.
A Kolhan varsity official said they would decide the dates of filling online forms by this weekend.
