Jamshedpur, Oct. 28: The state chapter of the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) has decided to groom small-scale sector personnel in human resources development.

“The state chapter would train professionals of the small-scale sector in the field of human resources management. The training would have a positive impact on the performance of the organisations,” said the national chapter member of NIPM, B.N. Sarangi.

He said the decisions were taken during a two-day eastern regional conference of NIPM that concluded recently.

According to Sarangi, during the brainstorming sessions several professionals stressed the need to meet the HR requirements in the small sector.

The two-day conference on “Deriving Competitive Advantage from Value Added HR Processes” had attracted around 150 HR professionals of various companies from eastern region. Human resources professionals Deepak Gupta, consultant, PricewaterhouseCoopers; Alyque Padamsee, president, AP Amalgamated; Y. Radhakrishnan, director, Zee Network; Indira J. Pareikh, dean, IIM, Ahmedabad; Dhruv Prakash, head Asia Pacific-Leadership Consulting, Hewitt Associates, Arvind Arora, VP-HR & Change Management- ECS, Anand Nayak, VP-HR of ITC, Madhukar Shukla, XLRI and Santanu Banerjee of Indo Rama were the main speakers.

“The chief guest and the former Jharkhand Governor, Prabhat Kumar, in his speech, stressed the need to focus on the small-scale sector to meet its HR needs,” Sarangi said.

Sarangi said: “The members of the state chapter would discuss the areas where we should begin our work,” he said
