Jamshedpur, Dec. 23: Churches, schools, shops and roundabouts in the city have been illuminated to welcome Santa Claus and reindeers. But once the clock strikes 12 tomorrow, the action for children would lie at the city hotels and clubs.
At Fortune Hotel Centre Point in Bistupur, the main attraction would be a new cake shop that has come up on the hotel premises. “We have established a makeshift shop shaped like a crib. Varieties of cakes, pastries and other Christmas goodies can be purchased here,” said Ritesh Gupta, the food and beverage manager at Centre Point.
While children would enjoy the pastries, grownups would have something else to munch. The hotel has organised a lavish continental buffet and candlelight dinner on Monday and Tuesday.
Next door, at Hotel Regent, a mega children’s carnival has been planned on December 25.
“The carnival would have several games, competitions and other attractions for children. But the most important event would be a live band performance by a renowned group from one of the city schools,” said Kaushal Pandey, the senior captain at Hotel Regent. A gala Christmas buffet has also been organised.
Another hotel where the action would be is Ganga Regency at Sakchi. Called Santa’s Christmas Carnival, the authorities here have lined up a programme for children on the evening of December 25. “The show is specially for kids between five and 12, with magic and puppet show. There will also be games and a dance competition,” said Ganga Regency’s food and beverage manager Sony Joseph.
The clubs, too, are not gearing up. At United Club, children would be treated to a film. “There will be no programmes but we will screen Mr Bean on Christmas day,” said Swarup, the manager.
Beldih Club intends to celebrate Christmas with cocktails and lunch. Golmuri Club would have a mini children’s mela and entertainment programmes.
