Adventure sports

n Delhi Public School felt privileged when Bachendri Pal visited the school recently to inspire and encourage the students.

She encouraged the students to strive for the best and briefed them about different adventure sports to be undertaken by our school.

Pal, who is the chief of Tata Steel’s Adventure Foundation, told the students about the advantages of adventure sports like river rafting, rock climbing, trekking, para-sailing and para-trooping.

She informed that she would start taking practical classes soon.

She further made us aware that adventure sports not only provides entertainment and refreshment to our monotonous lives, but also develops moral courage and confidence to face challenges in life.

Fun learning

n The English club of Jamshedpur Public School (JPS) have launched “Words Worth”, an interactive competition, to encourage students to improve their vocabulary.

Each day new words with four alternatives are put up on the bulletin board. The one who figures out the closest meaning first is awarded a prize. The response to “Words Worth” has been good.

The school also plans to start “Radio Ketchup”, a radio programme, that will give a new meaning to the term recess. During lunch hours, students will line up to hear fun jingles sung by senior students.

JPS looks forward to many more of such activities.

Good cause

n The Environment Week at Baridih School concluded recently. To mark the occasion various programmes were organised and the children were told about ways to keep the environment clean. The students also prepared charts, posters, slogans and staged short plays to make the event successful.

A school-level signature campaign was held and an environment awareness rally was taken out. The rally was followed by a tree plantation programme in which our principal, Deepika Joshi, and the teachers participated.

“It was just great, wasn’t it?” said Shreyosi Chakrobarty, my classmate.

We have just had a particularly interesting class of biology where we

particularly got a good view of cells. We saw it not through teacher’s

drawing on the blackboard but through Television, yes Television.

Carmel Junior College is now excelling in its studies in a different way

and making students interested in studies more than ever before.

Followed by one of the best schools in Kolkata, Carmel of Jamshedpur has

found a new way of teaching, through television. It is not the movies,

serials or matches

that we are seeing but we are gulping what we would never have done so

well in regular school book studies. Our every teacher or rather every

class in our school has a computer and a Television to its name. The

teacher controls the computer and teaches whatever her subject is just

by clicking the mouse button on the screen on her respective subject and

we see it on the Television screen. With learning through computers we

really look forward to every class with so much interest as if each

class is going to be the best moments of our life. We have come to love

studies like anything. It worked just like miracle over us. The teacher

spoke to us at the same time showing us the concerned subject (or

topic). We have never had so much fun in our lives while studying.
