Jamshedpur, Oct. 3: Narendra Modi?s ?Vibrant Gujarat? is all set to echo across the steel city.

Gujarat Club has roped in Aavishkar Academy, a cultural troupe, to perform in the cultural programmes in the city, which have been organised as a part of ?Vibrant Gujarat? movement.

The initiative has been launched by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi to promote the state on the international tourism map.

The mega function, christened Melo (meaning a mela or a fair), will be organised at the BOC Pavilion on October 9 and 10 as a part of the 10-day Navratri celebration, a popular Gujarati festival.

A four-member team, led by Ankur Pathan from Aavishkar Academy, has already arrived in the city for training people from the community to set the stage afire with their performance in the mega show.

The first day of the programme, on October 9, will see Sheri Garba (a traditional folk dance of Gujarat), which is open to people across the community. On October 10 the artists from Aavishkar Academy, along with those who were trained by them will hog the limelight.

Speaking to The Telegraph Pathan said this is the first time that the troupe will stage a show during the Navratri celebrations in the city. According to him, besides the popular Dandiya Raas and Raas Garba, as many as seven typical folk dances of Gujarat will be put up during the cultural extravaganza.

The folk dances will include Hudo Raas, Tippani, Dangi dance, Kartal, Rasdo and Gope Raas.

According to Pathan, the entire programme has been conceptualised by Kalpesh Dalal, the director of the academy. Dalal, who is presently in Russia to participate in Festival of India, will himself be present in the mega show.

Further unfolding the nitty-gritty of the show, Purvi Patel, a dance instructor of Aavishkar Academy, said about 60 dancers will perform live on stage during the gala function.

She added that a seven-member team from the academy, comprising singers, rhythmists and organ players will arrive tomorrow.

Harsh Vyas and Bindu Joshi, both members of the Gujarat Club, will compere the second day?s proceedings at the celebrations. They shall relay a commentary on the origin and the significance of the dance forms that will be performed.

The stage settings shall also depict the scenes of different fairs organised in different parts of Gujarat throughout the year, to add a touch of reality to the ambience.

President of Gujarat Club Smita Parikh said over 1,200 people across different communities have been invited to witness the show.

?The objective of organising such a show is to promote the Gujarati culture,? she added.
