Jamshedpur, July 20: An outer-circle (ring) road, an additional aerodrome in the Adityapur area, two railway bridges, more flyovers, railway siding and improved parking facilities in the steel city are some of the proposals to be incorporated in the ?Greater Jamshedpur? project report to be finalised by Jusco.

The Tata Steel subsidiary has been asked to prepare the report within eight months and keep in mind the projected growth of the steel city in the next 30 years.

Urban development minister Raghubar Das and senior officers of the department held a marathon meeting today with officials of 15 city-based companies, including Tata Steel and Tata Motors, at the circuit house and discussed the modalities of the project.

According to Das, areas under ?Greater Jamshedpur? will include Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC), Jugsalai Municipality and rural panchayat areas of Bagbera and Parsudih. Besides, the suburbs of the city (including chief minister?s home turf Ghurabandha) will also be included in the master plan.

Asked about the execution of the project, Das told The Telegraph that infrastructure development in areas under ?Greater Jamshedpur? would be a joint venture between private corporate houses and the government. However, the modalities of cost-sharing and funding of the development projects would be chalked out later, he added.

The corporate houses have also agreed to construct broad concrete roads and extend other civic amenities in areas like Burmamines, Laxminagar etc, said Das.

East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Nitin Madan Kulkarni has been instructed to form a committee comprising government officials and representatives of private companies and railways within a day or two. Besides working out the master plan, the committee will also monitor the progress of different projects in future.

The government has already planned an overbridge over the river Subarnarekha that would link the city to Ghatshila through a bridge in Luwabasha area (Baridih). Das claimed the government has already allocated Rs 7 crore for the project undertaken by the rural development department.

Besides, heavy vehicles coming from Chaibasa and Ranchi would also move more smoothly as the MNAC and Jugsalai municipality area have been asked to evacuate the illegal road side encroachments in Mango, Dimna and Parsudih-Sundarnagar-Karandih areas.

District officials pointed out that the steel city's population has crossed the 12 lakh mark and it has been growing steadily. Today's meeting was attended by the representatives of corporate houses including Tata Motors, Tinplate Company of India Limited (TCIL), Tata Timken Limited, Tata Ryerson, Tata Cummins, Tata Robin and Frazer , Lafarge, Indian Steel and Wire Products Limited, Tata Pigments, Jamco and Agrico.
