Jamshedpur, Jan. 28: The East Singhbhum district administration on Saturday cleared area demarcation of the industrial township to be looked after by Tata Steel subsidiary Jusco.
The final proposal of both the Tata Steel industrial township and Jamshedpur Municipal Corporation will now be sent to the state urban development department on Monday. The department will place it before the next cabinet meeting for a final notification with a month's deadline for stakeholders to lodge claims and objections, if any.
The final notification will be issued tentatively by March to pave the way for constitution of the industrial township and Jamshedpur municipal corporation.
"After the final notification, the government will start electoral process of Jamshedpur Municipal Corporation and also frame a governing body for the industrial township," said East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar.
Incidentally, the draft proposal on area demarcation of industrial township and the municipal corporation was cleared by the district administration after a meeting with representatives of corporate sectors on January 3.
"But, we had wanted a final proposal on land demarcation from Tata Steel, which we got today. The special committee of the district administration today approved the final proposal," added the DC.
Tata Steel subsidiary Jusco will continue to provide only water and electricity to those areas, which they are still catering to, as per the lease agreement. Other urban services like garbage collection, road repairs, solid waste management, streetlight maintenance, upkeep of parks and vector management (mosquito control) will be provided by the corporation.
The deputy commissioner said that the municipal corporation would be divided into three broad zones - eastern (Birsanagar, Golmuri), western (Sonari, Kadma, Shastrinagar and Ranikudar) and central (Sakchi, Kasidih, Rajendra Nagar, Baradwari). All the markets except Bistupur will come under the municipal corporation.
"Tata Steel will render its services to the worksite of its companies and residential areas of employees besides Bistupur area and market," said Kumar.
The deputy commissioner added that the government notification about Mango Municipal Corporation and Jugsalai Municipal Council issued on January 9 had also been received by the district administration.
