
Around 670 sportspersons took part in walkathon, boxing, karate and football to mark National Sports Day in Jamshedpur on Monday.
The mega event was hosted by Tata Steel sports wing at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
Around 400 took part in the walkathon even as 100 pugilists let punches fly in the intra-training centre tourney in the afternoon.
In the inter-school karate meet, 70 students showcased their skills. About 100 Tata Steel women employees played soccer at archery grounds.
In walkathon, Puja Kumari (2.4km), S. Mallik (2km), Neelam Prasad (1.2km) and Jasbir Kaur (1km) and Ashish Jaiswal (2.4km), Mukesh Kumar (2km), Suryajit Singh (1.6km), M.L. Chatterjee (1.2km) and H.B. Das (1km) were winners.
Tata Steel Training Centre emerged karate champs.
In boxing, U-12 winners in various weight slots were Jai Dubey, Monu Kumar Singh and Jasmit Sidhu. The U-14 bout saw Sahil Kumar emerge champion. Neelam Kumar won U-14 girls.
The iron-making unit of Tata Steel won the title in womens' football.
