Ranchi, Jan. 25: Bharatiya soup, Tiranga pulao, Azad Hind biryani, maa ki roti, daal Bhagat Singh, kesaria jalebi, Rajputana kheer — the spread couldn’t get any better on the 60th Republic Day.
Gauging right the R-Day gourmet mood, hotels Capitol Hill, Arya and Landmark have prepared a menu that will whip up nationalist sentiments to make this January 26 all the more memorable.
A special lunch buffet will greet visitors to Capitol Hill between 12.30pm and 3pm tomorrow. The completely desi fare will be inspired by freedom fighters and the interiors will flaunt colours of the national flag.
Narendra Singh, food and beverage manager of the hotel, said from table mats to napkins, everything would add to the spirit of nationalism. “Our members of staff will sport Tricolour badges, too,” he said.
“While soulful strains of patriotic songs will fill the air, we will cook up a storm with 20 vegetarian and non-vegetarian items,” he added.
Hotel Arya at Lalpur Chowk has a unique idea up its sleeves to entertain R-Day customers. Besides traditional Indian food, it plans special illumination to commemorate the day.
Hotel Landmark, which is already hosting a Hyderabadi food festival for its guests, has decided on a special menu for the occasion. Spicy, mouth-watering treats like tali huin machli, mirchi ka pakora, chicken biryani, chicken haleem, mutton nihari, vegetable biryani, paneer biryani and baigan ka salan and desserts like khomani ka mitha and sewai promise to make the 60th Republic Day utterly delectable.
“In a nutshell, we will add a sprinkling of patriotism to our Hyderabadi khana khazana,” said Neeraj Patel, supervisor of Hotel Landmark.
Several other small and big hotels and restaurants are planning it big. While Yellow Sapphire will have Tricolours to accentuate interiors, Restaurant Sheila will offer scratch coupons and special discount to customers tomorrow.
