Jamshedpur, July 8: International Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) is all set to launch a branch of finishing school — Polished Cats and English Cats in the city soon.

Polished Cats is the first-ever chain of finishing schools in India and is based on the line of Swiss finishing schools. With the launch on July 16, Polished Cats will look at grooming and personality development while English Cats will deal with language problems.

The schools are a subsidiary of Flying Cats, an airhostess training academy that has many branches across the country.

“We have taken up the franchise of the brand in Jamshedpur and will launch the two schools next week,” said Neetu Manikatalia, centre director at INIFD.

With two courses of a three and six-month duration, the schools aim to rope in male students, too. “Today the concept of grooming has broadened and is applicable to either sex. We are also looking at students who have just finished their school and wish to enter the glamour or corporate industry,” Neetu explained.

Classes on confidence building, personal hygiene and grooming in terms of hair, skin and body care and etiquette will be conducted.

The course, which is open to both school-goers, will be conducted five days a week, with a couple of hours everyday. Affiliated to Annamalai University, participants will be given certificates at the end of the course. However, the highlight of the course is classes through the V-Sat facility.

“Two-way conferencing through the video satellite facility will make it convenient to rope in big names from the fashion and glamour world, who are otherwise unable to come down to the city. We are having talks with professionals like Sabira Merchant (Miss Universe trainer), Cory Walia (make-up artiste), Ashley Rebello (costumes) and models like Aditi Govitrikar and Zulfi Syed. They would all be taking classes through V-Sat,” said Neetu.
