Ranchi, Jan. 9: The Ranchi District Cricket Association (RDCA) has decided to ask the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) to debar players from trials if they do not play even a single tournament on the district level.

The tournament committee of RDCA took the decision today to penalise players who ignore district level tournaments as well as clubs, which do not deposit either entry fees or do not register players on time. The committee has decided to impose fines on late registration of players. Only five or six players will be registered once the deadline is over, RDCA secretary Sunil Singh said.

?This season, some players participated in the state trials as players from a district though they had not played on the district association?s tournaments. This leads to indiscipline among players. The state association should take a firm stand against this,? he said.

The committee, which met at the Birsa stadium, drew up the fixtures for super division, senior division and inter-school matches. Cricket season, 2004-05, though delayed because of technical reasons will start with an inter-school cricket match on January 13.

The season opener at Birsa stadium will follow the distribution of annual prizes and felicitation of Ranchi players who represented the state in different cricket board tournaments. The felicitation of Mahendra Singh Dhoni is expected to be the highlight of the ceremony, provided he is available, he said.

Top teams in the super division, like Mecon, have not yet fully complied with the entry and registration requirements. ?Such teams would be given a grace period of one week. After that they would not be allowed to play,? Singh said. The committee also discussed problems created by late entry and late registration of players and decided that as 65 teams are already participating in the super division, A division and B division tournaments, it has become necessary to follow the schedule, he said.
