Ranchi, Oct. 26: With share prices crashing down each day, residents of the capital city turned to Feng Shui to bring prosperity in business and good health this Dhanteras.
Good luck charms like laughing Buddha, lucky bamboo and wind chimes were flying off the shelves on Sunday.
According to Chinese mythology, laughing Buddha, one of the gods of wealth is believed to bring financial gains to those who keep the idol facing the main door of the house.
Ranging from Rs 99 to 5000, the ones in sitting position with a bag of wealth on their shoulder were considered to be more auspicious by the customers here.
Crystals, priced at Rs 45 to 2500 were also a passion this season. Rose quartz for love and happiness, smoky quartz for mood elevation and enhancing closeness to the nature, amethyst, a purple coloured stone of peace that also prevents addictions, sharpens the memory and improves the immune system were being bought by many.
Ajay Mishra, owner of a shop selling Feng Shui products said: “I once got a laughing Buddha key ring as a gift. Since then my family has prospered in many ways and I have become a firm believer of all Feng Shui lucky charms. This Diwali I decided to start the shopping with lucky coins, which are believed to prevent wallets from emptying”.
However some were sceptical about the extent to which these products can actually bring good luck. “At a time the markets are going through a lean phase and all other methods have failed, I decided to turn to Feng Shui. I have never tried it earlier but this Dhanteras a friend suggested me to buy a golden Buddha for my shop,” said Mukul Arya, a city based businessman.
