Jamshedpur, Dec. 3: Differences over the declaration of admission test results in English medium schools have been finally resolved.

The district administration has convinced the schools to publish the list of “candidates” on the same day to avoid confusion and save extra admission expense.

Students do not have to keep their “options open by seeking multiple admissions”.

Elite English medium schools would now be announcing their results for admission to different classes on January 18 next year.

The East Singhbhum district administration had recently proposed that these prestigious schools, most of whom are affiliated to the ICSE board, declare the results on the same day.

The district administration felt that the move would ease the burden on the parents of those children seeking admission to schools. It would save extra expenditure incurred on admissions in more than one school.

“I have spoken to the principal of Loyola School, Fr Augustine Vattamatam and he has agreed that all ICSE schools in the city and adjoining areas would announce their admission results on January 18,” deputy commissioner Nidhi Khare told The Telegraph here today.

Loyola School is the convener of all the ICSE-affiliated schools in the city and its adjoining areas. “We are happy that these schools have agreed to our proposal,” Khare added.

The district administration had planned to convene a meeting of principals of these reputed schools in case there were differences of opinion over the proposal.

“Since all the schools have agreed to our proposal, there would be no meetings,” the deputy commissioner said and justified the proposal as a good one since the parents of hundreds of new candidates would come to know on the same day whether their child has been accepted by any of the schools.

Acting on the instructions of the deputy commissioner, the district superintendent of education (DSE) Poonam Singh sent request letters to each of the 25 elite schools in the city and its adjoining areas apprising them of the district administration’s proposal.

In his request letter, the DSE had urged school authorities to announce the results on the same day.

However, the district administration had no reservations as far as the tests for new admissions were concerned. Each of these institutions was free to conduct admission test according to their convenience.

District administration sources said Khare had also discussed with Loyola School authorities about making public the existing seats in different classes in each of the ICSE schools in the city.
