Jamshedpur, Feb. 5: “I wanted some information from the SDO. It took me about three days just to file an application as the application was received at his residence, while the money was deposited in the office. It was confusing and harassing.”
The names of the public information officer should be fixed at his chamber to avoid confusion.
A disciplinary action should be taken against the officer found guilty under the RTI Act.
Why no Sangeet Natak Akademi, Lalit Kala Akademi or Sahitya Akademi have been formed even after six years of the state?
These are some of the remarks that visitors made at a helpdesk set up by “Foundation Jharkhand” in front of the district collectorate office. The desk, which was inaugurated today, will be operational for the next five days.
The helpdesk, said secretary D.G. Raja, has been formed to spread awareness about the RTI Act among the people, which, he said, could be a powerful tool to bring about a change in the society.
“Till afternoon, we received queries from about 25 persons, who wanted to know several things about the Act,” said Raja.
A leaflet with all the aspects of the RTI Act, including the procedures, will be distributed among people tomorrow.
