District matches from next week
Jharkhand's cricketers will be busy this month showcasing their prowess at inter-district tournaments, the schedule of which has been stitched up by the state association.
The senior inter-district (Plate Group) cricket tournament for the Randhir Verma Trophy will be held at four venues from March 16 to 27, while the inter-district under-19 matches (Elite Group), which is scheduled between March 16 and 23, have been slotted in Dhanbad and Bokaro.
Announcing the domestic tournament schedule, Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) vice-president Aseem Kumar Singh said the inter-district under-19 tournament (Plate Group) will be held at Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Deogarh from March 23 to 31.
Chaibasa, Pakur, Jamshedpur and Latehar will host the Randhir Verma Trophy with Gumla, Dumka, Koderma, Khunti, Jamtara, Godda, Pakur, Sahebganj, Hazaribagh, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Palamau, Simdega, Ramgarh, Garhwa, Chatra and Latehar vying for the top honours.
Chaibasa, the district hearquarters of West Singhbhum, will play host to both the semi-finals and finals at Birsa Munda Cricket Stadium of this tournament for the seniors.
According to Singh, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Sahebganj, Lohardaga, West Singhbhum, Bokaro, Gumla, Koderma and Simdega are the districts that will compete in the inter-district under-19 tournament (Elite Group).
Khunti, Ramgarh, Garhwa, Chatra, Pakur, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Jamtara, Palamau, Godda, Latehar, Hazaribagh, Dumka, Giridih and Deogarh will play the inter-district under-19 (Plate Group) matches.
"We are going to deck up the grounds where the tournaments will be played. We are looking forward to the smooth conduct of matches," Singh said.
The inter-district tournaments work as a platform for cricketers to showcase their talent and graduate to the state outfit.
