Industrial Training Institute in Dhanbad |
Dhanbad, Oct. 28: Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Dhanbad, has shown the tech route to fellow ITIs.
The institute is the first among 28 state-run ITIs to develop its own website. Its campus has also been equipped with WiFi facility to enable students and teachers use the Internet.
Principal Dalbir Singh, who has been credited with most of the institute’s achievements, said the need for a website was felt when the development process began at the ITI in 2006 and it was awarded the status of centre of excellence tag for IT education.
All six laboratories of the institute were computerised gradually and finally, the website, www.itidhanbad.com, was launched recently with help from a private agency. The website offers all information about the ITI such as the admission process, availability of different trades for study and list of faculty members.
“The examination schedule and counselling processes besides tender notices are also uploaded on the site. The prospectus, career reports of students and details of existing facilities can also be accessed,” said the principal.
This is not all. The institute has also extended a helping hand to Jharia Rehabilitation and Development Authority by agreeing to offer job-oriented training to the victims of the fire-affected areas. Forty-three youths from the newly developed colony, Jharia Vihar in Belgarhia, have already been selected.
“The youths will be trained in house wiring, repair of electrical appliances et al. We have prepared 19 training modules for them,” Singh said.
He added that 120 hours of basic training would be provided to the youths.
