Ranchi, March 10: Jharkhand High Court today questioned Airports Authority of India, the Centre and the state on the delay in setting up an airport in Deoghar.

The court was hearing a PIL filed by Godda MP Nishikant Dubey, a keen votary of the Deoghar airport project that has been a non-starter.

Dubey's counsel Rajeev Kumar said the state government had first approached the Centre in 2010 for the construction of an airport in Deoghar. The Centre accepted the proposal and discussed the issue with Planning Commission and in 2012-13 approved the construction of an airport in Deoghar with a budget of Rs 350 crore.

In a separate case, a high court bench today directed the state government to consider shifting of a post-mortem house, situated near Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deoghar, to some other place.
