Ranchi, Feb. 23: Utkarsh Mishra and Anwesha Singh, both first-year students, walked away with the titles of Mr and Miss Bitotsav ’09, the last event of the cultural fest at BIT, Mesra, today .

While the initial days saw telly shows taking on the BIT stage, the programmes of the concluding day were run-of-the-mill events.

Core night events were lined up for the day which included skit, drawing competition, quiz, fashion show, Turning Brain and stand-up comedy.

A painting competition titled Taare Zameen Par witnessed 27 students of the institute take up brushes to show their creativity on the canvas. The participants could paint anything according to their choice.

In the Core Nite finale, seven teams consisting of 10 members each sashayed down the runway portraying the theme Cool Blue.

It was followed by skit contest where red was the theme. The participating teams were given 10 minutes to act based on the theme. While some depicted red as the colour of love, others portrayed it as a sign of danger.

“After participating in a variety of entertainment programmes, the last day was kept to unwind and relax so the comedy event Hasna Mana Hai was held today,” said Rahul Saboo, a final-year-student of electronics and communication.

Another participant, Shouvick Basak, said the five days were “full on masti”.

The fitting end to the cultural gala came in the form of a rocking performance by Mumbai-based rockers, Band of Boys.

They played peppy Hindi and English numbers to which the students let their hair down.
