Jamshedpur, July 3: The government has approved the proposed multipurpose cultural complex at Hatma near Ranchi.

A senior official of the sports, culture and youth affairs ministry said the blueprint of the multi-crore complex had been prepared.

“We took our time before approving the designs. We studied them in detail and then gave our nod to the outstaion firm that made the design. Now we will float the tenders for the complex,” he added.

The complex would boast of an air-conditioned auditorium, art gallery, plush office, underground parking, a conference room, modern telecommunication facilities, a post office, a cafeteria and a bank.

He said the department was trying to complete the project at the earliest. “The complex is the most ambitious project that we have ever undertaken. We don’t intend to delay it. We are satisfied with the design and now we need to implement it,” he said.

“We have shortlisted the names of reputed construction companies. It is a big project, so naturally companies with experience and a good track record will be given preference,” officials said.

Sources said the land at Hatma was surveyed some time ago.

“Hatma is near the capital and easily approachable. The complex will have accommodation facility. Outstation cultural groups, who come to Ranchi to participate in events, will face no lodging problems once the complex is constructed,” sources said.

He said the complex was necessary as there was no proper place to organise cultural events “We have lined up several cultural programmes. But without infrastructure it would not be possible to hold these events. We hope the project will be completed within a few months,” the official added.
