Ranchi, Oct. 16: The day began with the entire auditorium reverberating with drum beats and ended with students strutting their stuff on the catwalk to popular Bollywood numbers enthralling onlookers.
This was the first day of the three-day Zonal Convention of National Association of Students of Architecture (ZONASA ?05) that kicked off today at BIT Mesra where around 300 students have gathered under one roof to participate.
The programme titled ?Udgam Revisited? is being organised by the department of Architecture at BIT Mesra.
The seven colleges participating in the competition are IIT Kharagpur, B.E College Howrah, NIT Patna, ABIT Cuttack, C.E.T Bhubneshwar, Government Engineering College, Raipur and BIT Mesra.
The competition was divided into three different types of events such as modern, medieval and ancient.
The fashion parade based on the theme, ?Udgam Revisited? and was held late in the evening.
The students of different engineering college walked the ramp show to the tune of various Bollywood numbers stretching back to the 1940?s to today?s chart busters.
Apart from the fashion show, there was also a skit competition wherein they staged, ?life of a student in the architecture field?.
A cultural dance programme comprising of Nagpuri, Western, classical and Hindi Bollywood dances followed it.
Students also participated in different types of competitions, which included debates, extempore, cartooning as well as dumb charades.
The students got a chance to display their artistic skills by taking part in the academic competition based on the theme ?Architecture?. They also had the opportunity to design furniture with intricate patterns. Other creative activities included designing page layouts in newspapers and designing products.
About 40 -45 students from each college are participating in the three-day convention.
