Good news for those of you who don't want to be job-seekers but wealth-creators.

Jamshedpur Women's College is planning to set up an Atal Incubation Centre soon to support students who want to launch their own business.

The decision was taken in a meeting organised under the Internal Quality Assessment cell (IQAC) on Wednesday to discuss activities to be taken to raise the academic bar of the girls' college in Bistupur.

Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto and Suresh Sonthalia, president of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) were present with teachers and college principal Shukla Mahanty at the meeting.

"We want to promote the idea of start-ups among girls," principal Mahanty said.

"The college will set up the Atal Incubation Centre to support innovators and start-ups in their pursuit to become successful entrepreneurs. The centre will offer infrastructure along with quality assistance to start-ups in early stages," she said, adding such centres were a part of the Union government's Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in India.

This apart, the college, which had got 'A' grade from NAAC in 2011, will be a part of the National Knowledge Network, an information highway linking top educational institutions and research labs.

First proposed by the National Knowledge Commission in 2006, the NKN allows students in India the opportunity to attend live classes of their choice at educational institutions across the country.

"The college will have to give Rs 7 lakh to join the network," said the principal.

Mahanty also said that a computer literacy and stress management programmes would soon start for their non-teaching staff. Teachers have also been asked to organise seminars on various topics.

MP Mahto suggested in the meeting that the college should detach the intermediate section and let it be managed by a separate administration for better functioning of the entire cradle.

"There is a lot of work. We have asked teachers and non-teaching staff to pull up their socks. We have applied for NAAC assessment this year also and want a better grade," the principal said.
