Rashmi: Set to scale new heights |
Ranchi, March 28: Just like the song, “she’s got the looks”, while standing six-ft tall he’s the “sexy thing”.
Budding fashion models Rashmi Kumari and Zahid Hussain, residents of Harmu and Main Road, will soon be doing their thing at the Wills Life Style India Fashion Week followed by Lakme Fashion Week, to be held at New Delhi.
Rashmi left for New Delhi today in the afternoon flight to join the show. At present, both have been hired on a trial basis but if all goes well, the city models may be strutting their stuff on the Delhi ramp, displaying some top labels. Rashmi and Zahid landed themselves the opportunity after both took part in an audition two months ago at Noida, Delhi.
Rashmi, who incidentally is five feet and six inches tall, will soon be seen in Gladrags — a fashion magazine, which has on earlier occasions featured the likes of John Abraham, Dino Morea, Lara Dutta and Koena Mitra.
Before making her foray into the fashion world, Rashmi was among the two from Jharkhand to be selected for the Gladrags Mega Model and Manhunt Contest-2007, that was held at Peerless Inn, Calcutta, on February 11, 2007. The excited city lass, who has appeared for her final ISc examination from Ranchi Women’s College, is pinning her hopes on the Lakme Fashion Week to land her a “big break”.
“This would be my best and biggest platform till date. And the credit of making all this happen goes to city choreographer Zayeed Khan and the director of International Institute of Creative Courses (IICC), M. Alam, who persuaded me to take part in fashion shows,” she added.
A student of IICC, Kumari picked up the finer nuances of modelling in six months time. She has Bizarre, Miss Ranchi and some other fashion shows in her kitty, too.
Zahid Hussain, on the other hand, has already tried his hand in choreography. A multimedia and mass communication student, Zahid has walked the ramp for Satyapal and designer Kyari. He has also cleared the eastern India round in the Mr Grasim 2007 contest recently.
M. Alam, director of IICC, was all praise for his students. “Rashmi is super-talented. She has maintained a low-profile for a long time, even when we kept on egging her to take part in shows. But look at her and Zahid now,” adds Alam.
