Ranchi, Jan. 7: Ranchi district administration has beefed up security in the capital in the wake of Union home minister Rajnath Singh's visit tomorrow to inaugurate a new CISF campus and lay the foundation stone of a residential building there.
During the day, policemen checked pedestrians and cars on the road connecting Birsa Munda Airport at Doranda with the CISF campus in Dhurwa. A large posse of police officials had also assembled at Birsa Munda Airport to conduct a practice run of the welcome rituals planned for the Union minister.
Soon after his arrival around noon, Singh would be taken to the CISF campus 6km away through Hinoo Chowk and HEC Township sector II passing the state Assembly with a view of the Jagannathpur temple and Tiril Ashram.
"Proper arrangements have been done to escort the Union home minister, keeping protocol in the mind," said SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi.
Singh expected to leave tomorrow after the function.
At the CISF campus, last minute efforts were on to get things ready. "CISF DG O.P. Singh reached today to take stock of preparations. From tomorrow, the IG of CISF eastern sector, who used to operate from Patna, will officiate from here," said a CISF official deputed at the gate.
The CISF campus, he explained, was spread over 100 acres and equipped with all training facilities for jawans. It houses the CISF dog squad and a hospital for them. "An officers' mess and an auditorium are also ready," he said, adding that there were plans to develop a firing range, playground and a swimming pool.
CISF assistant commandant Sohan Lal expressed his inability to provide details of the inauguration. "A Press communiqué has been sent for approval to the ministry of home affairs. All details will be given after we get the nod," he said.
At present, CISF personnel are deputed at Heavy Engineering Corporation, Birsa Munda Airport and several collieries across the state.
A CISF constable noted that the new campus would be a milestone in the history of CISF in Jharkhand. "Till now, there was no proper campus for CISF. After its inauguration tomorrow, CISF can claim to have a proper home in the state. Jharkhand, where several industrial units are set up, a camp such as this one will be of great help," he said.
