Jamshedpur, March 7: It’s lights, camera and action for Tata Steel as filmmaker Zafar Hai is all set to shoot a documentary that would sketch the history of the steel major.

A team from Mumbai arrived in the city yesterday to select a suitable location. The one-hour film would mark the company’s centenary celebrations and would have actor Roshan Seth as the narrator.

Seth, popularly known as Nehru from Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi, has worked with Hai on many earlier projects.

Speaking to The Telegraph Hai said: “We are looking for a location right now. The crew would arrive here on March 18 on a three-week schedule to shoot the film.” Though a major part of the film would be shot within the steel plant, Hai and his team would also shoot on the city outskirts.

This move marks a major step in Tata Steel’s history as prior to this filmmakers like Harisadhan Dasgupta and Shyam Benegal have made documentaries for the major.

Hai, who’s rocketed to fame with his Merchant-Ivory production, has already made two films for the Tatas — Keepers of Flame and The Taj of Apollo Bender. However, his major breakthrough was the documentary film that marked 100 years of the Taj Mahal Hotels and was completed within a record time of six weeks.

Sources said the film would highlight the achievements of Tata Steel in the past 100 years, including the present milestones and international mergers.
