Windmill deal
Ranchi: Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC), Ranchi, signed an MoU with Sky Wind of Germany on Tuesday to make windmill parts. The deal was signed by Avijit Ghosh of HEC and Peter Klonk of Sky Wind GmbH.
Fatal cave-in
Daltonganj: One Dulari Devi (60) and her grandchildren - Palak Mansi (6) and twins Krishna and Savitri (4) - were killed when the roof of neighbour Bhola Pathak's house collapsed in Haidernagar on Tuesday.
Belgian hope
Ranchi: Belgian ambassador Jan Luykx called on CM Raghubar Das on Tuesday to say that many companies were keen to invest in the state.
Assault cuffs
Four persons were arrested on Tuesday for assaulting a man at Burmamines in Jamshedpur on Monday night.
Surajlal Yadav, Syed Imran, Sanjay Patel and Ghulam Rasool had beaten up Md Sami with an iron rod after they had a brawl over some issue. All of them were drunk. In another incident, police registered a case of assault against one Sakir Nawaz for beating Manoj Sharma with a stick for parking his bike near the former's shop at Dimna Chowk.
Blockade
Traffic was disrupted on NH-33 for about two hours on Tuesday afternoon after villagers led by Ichagarh MLA Sadhu Charan Mahto put up a blockade at Chandil in Seraikela-Kharsawan to protest against pollution caused by sponge iron plants.
Train delay
All long-distance trains from New Delhi to Tatanagar were running late on Tuesday due to dense fog. Trains like Rajdhani and Purushottam Superfast Express were running over eight hours late.
Drink driving
East Singhbhum DC Amit Kumar directed district transport officer Sanjay Kujur and DSP traffic Vivekananda Thakur to launch a drive and cancel licences of those found driving under the influence of alcohol.
No water today
Water supply to five neighbourhoods in Ranchi - Ashok Nagar, Doranda, Church Road, Kantatoli and Siramtoli - will remain disrupted on Wednesday owing to the ongoing repair work of a pipeline at Patel Chowk on Tuesday.
Executive engineer of Booty More water division Manoj Kumar said that the repair and maintenance work of an underground pipe was underway. Water supply is likely to resume on Thursday.
Cashless
Volunteers of NSS at BIT-Mesra in Ranchi began a week-long awareness drive on cashless transactions on their premises and adjoining areas on Tuesday. The campaign will continue till December 13.
Demonstration
Members of Nari Shakti, a social outfit in Ranchi, demonstrated near Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, alleging that bona fide beneficiaries are not getting benefits of welfare programmes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, widow pension, among others.
Inspection
Ranchi mayor Asha Lakra inspected renovation of Hatma Bustee pond and construction of a road at Vidyapatinagar colony, among others, on Tuesday. She expressed displeasure over the slow construction of the road at Vidyapatinagar and asked to blacklist the construction company.
Medical van
The trial run of a high speed Self Propelled Auxiliary Relief Medical Van was conducted in Hatia-Kotshila section on Ranchi outskirts on Tuesday. The van will help in relief measures during mishaps.
