Dumka, May 17: With poll results out, allegations and counter-allegations have already begun.

The JMM, Congress and RJD leaders have started blaming each other for the defeat in the two seats of Godda and Rajmahal seats.

Political observers blame rifts in the UPA camp for BJP’s astounding comeback in these two seats in Santhal Pargana.

Former state minister and BJP candidate Devidhan Besra won the Rajmahal seat by defeating JMM’s sitting MP Hemlal Murmu.

Besra won 1,61,934 votes while Murmu bagged 1,59,374 votes.

RJD candidate Thomas Hansda secured 1,28,431 votes while former deputy chief minister and Independent MLA from Dumka Stephen Marandi secured only 56,687 votes.

A new face in the BJP camp, Nishi Kant Dubey, defeated Furkan Ansari, the sitting Congress MP. Dubey secured 1,89,526 votes while Ansari managed 1,83,119 votes.

Dubey, however, had to face many odds. He was beaten up and criminals also tried to kill him on two occasions.

“There were massive irregularities by both Congress and JVM(P) candidates. I had to complain to the chief election commission. But the rift among my rivals finally helped me win,” Dubey told The Telegraph.

Observers said that the entry of Durga Soren in the Godda battlefield was the final straw in damaging the Congress’ chances.

“Voters also expressed concern over the alleged poor performance of Furkan Ansari and shifted to the BJP,” said a party worker.

“I lost the seat just due to the betrayal of JMM,” admitted Furkan.

In Rajmahal, too, the JMM and RJD leaders were locked in battle to settle old scores.

“I was damaged due to many factors. The Godda factor was one of them. Besides, some leaders from outside jumped into the poll fray, not for securing their victory but just to defeat me,” Devidhan Besra said, without naming the “outsider”, Stephen Marandi.
