Two Jharkhand cradles have found places among the top engineering institutions from across the country in a survey conducted by a well-known magazine for its June 22 edition.

While Dhanbad-based Indian School of Mines (ISM) has ranked 12th in the survey, BIT-Mesra has bagged the 13th spot.

The IITs and other premier cradles like Delhi Technological University have made it to the top 10.

Deputy registrar of BIT-Mesra S.S. Akhtar told The Telegraph that it was a matter of great pride that the institute was now among top engineering colleges of the country. “We will continue to strive for excellence,” he said.

He added that the cradle scored in the areas of research and publications, faculty and plum placements and outputs.

“We are consistently meeting the standards of well-known engineering colleges,” he added.

Fourth-year mechanical engineering student Diwakar Harsh said the last placement season on the campus had brought lucrative jobs.
