Bhubaneswar, May 24: The sensational Biranchi Das murder case has taken a curious turn with sound recordist Jubuli Sundaray and family members of gangster Raja Acharya accusing each other of intimidation.
Sundaray lodged a complaint at Sahid Nagar police station last night alleging the gangster's mother, Nalini Panda, had threatened him, album artistes Leslie Tripa- thy and Bidusmita Mantri and her brother Arun Man- tri to withdraw the case against him.
Sundaray claimed that threat was conveyed at his residence in the presence of his personal security officer provided to him following threats from the gangster.
Panda, however, was not available for comment.
In March, Sundaray had lodged a complaint against the gangster accusing him of intimidation, while actress Leslie had alleged the notorious criminal was threatening her and compelling her to marry him.
Starlet Bidusmita had lodged a similar complaint against the gangster accusing him of kidnapping her brother Arun Mantri.
Acharya, the prime accused in Biranchi Das murder case, has been lodged in Jharpada special jail here after surrendering in Goa. During interrogation, he named Jubuli, Leslie and Bidusmita as “co-conspirators”. Today, gangster Achar- ya’s sister-in-law, Shalini, lodged a complaint at Bargarh police station accusing Jubuli Sundaray of intimidating her.
“Jubuli barged into our residence today morning when I was alone. He asked for my mother-in-law and I said she was not at home. He then threatened me and even slapped me on my face,” she alleged.
Sundaray, however, denied the allegation.
City police commissioner BK Sharma said both sets of allegations were being investigated. Appropriate action would be taken against the guilty after probe.
Recently, Bidusmita lodged a complaint at the city's mahila police station alleging she was receiving threat calls from Raja Acharya.
She and Leslie have alle- ged Raja was making threatening calls and send- ing obscene SMS texts on their cellphones from behind the bars.
