An 18-year-old boy died after he rammed his bike into a stationary truck at Sector III of HEC Township on Ranchi-Dhurwa road early on Friday morning. The pillion-rider escaped with injuries.
Prakash Kumar Singh, alias Guddu, a student of DAV Public School, Dhurwa, had apparently failed to notice the 12-wheeler, which had suffered a breakdown and was stranded on the road, as he was busy talking to three friends on another bike. The incident occurred around 5.50am when Singh, a resident of Patel Nagar in Sector II, was on his way to tuition.
“Although the rider was wearing a helmet, it got shattered into pieces under the impact of the collision,” an eyewitness said.
The victim’s friends called police who rushed the boys to RIMS, where Singh was declared brought dead.
Dhurwa officer-in-charge B.N. Singh said the truck was brought to the police station around 1pm.
Fatal crash
Dhanbad: A 25-year-old man died when a BCCL bus coming from the opposite end hit his bike near Bastacola rescue station at Dhansar, Dhanbad, on Friday. Pappu Yadav was rushed to PMCH, where he was declared brought dead.
