Jamshedpur, Jan. 7: Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan, er, rather their dead ringers, were in the city today for a noble cause.

King Khan lookalike Prashant Walde (34) and Big B lookalike Rajkumar Bakhtiyani (55) danced to hit numbers featuring the superstars and also delivered popular dialogues at XLRI’s Tata Auditorium in a bid to raise funds for the treatment of Abhishek Kumar Keshri (15) and Arti Kumari (12).

Abhishek needs around Rs 1 lakh for treatment of an intestinal disease at Tata Main Hospital while Arti — whose two kidneys have failed — needs money for dialysis.

The duo came to town on the invitation of city-based industrialist Baldev Chawla, also the founder of NGO Sai Paropkar. “We had distributed around 1,000 passes for the event. During the programme, we appealed to the audience to contribute for the cause. Many loosened their purse strings and made donations at a box kept near the main stage,” Chawla said.

“We readily agreed to perform for free for the recovery of the underprivileged children. We appeal to all people to contribute generously for this cause,” one of the stars said.

The duo also visited St Mary’s English School later in the day and interacted with the students.

Walde, who has acted for the superhero in some scenes of Om Shanti Om and Don 2, performed on stage along with Bakhtiyani, who acted in Munni Badnam Hui song of Dabangg.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Walde a native of Nagpur who is a choreographer by profession, said that it was an advertisement opposite Juhi Chawla in 2003 which opened new vistas for him in the Bollywood as a SRK lookalike.

“I have got a few films such as Jannat Mein Shaitani and a Maharashtrian movie on the cards, but I am cashing in on the popularity of SRK and feature in long shots of the actor,” he said.

Mumbai-based Bakhtiyani said he realised his potential after prods from college friends. “Watching Amitabhji starrer Do Anjane in 1984 changed my life. Since then I have never looked back and performed several long shots for the angry young man,” he said.
