Ranchi, April 11: With only three days to Baisakhi, the Sikh community is getting ready to celebrate. From bhangra to bhajans, Baisakhi this year promises to be special for everyone.
The Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha on Main Road will organise religious discourses by pracharaks from Ludhiana and Delhi followed by bhajans and kirtans at the Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School at Pepee Compound.
?The Gurdwara will also organise a langar for the 10,000-odd devotees who are expected to arrive from all over the state,? Sethi added.
?People wear clothes in different shades of yellow and halwa is a must-have on Baisakhi,? added Rashmi Behl a Punjabi resident in the city.
This year, Capitol Hill Hotel has roped in professional bhangra dancers to perform during baisakhi to capture the mood of rural Punjab. The hotel will host Chak-De-Phatte, a fun-filled evening on April 13 to usher in the Punjabi new year. Later, a DJ from Calcutta will take over with bhangra mixes. It also plans to bring a Punjabi village to life in two banquet halls.
Hotel guest relation executive Shabnam Khan said small cottages with straw roofs will be put up in the hall while attendants will also be in traditional Punjabi attire, complete with turbans and kurtas.
