Ranchi, July 4: When you fail, try and try again — fortunately Ranchi’s Abhay Verma did not have to try too hard to be the first winner of The Telegrap-sponsored Bid Mania.

A bemused Verma (28), a trader by profession, conceded that it “felt great” to be the mega winner in the first week of the contest. As the first prize winner, he is now the owner of a premium bedroom set sponsored by Avaran.

A resident of Lal Koti in Ratu Road, Verma said: “If I have really won, then it’s totally unexpected.”

He added he had tried his luck at different contests across the state. “I missed even the consolation prizes. I had lost hope of winning a contest ever, when my friends and family brought the Bid Mania to my attention,” he said.

With Verma, the mega maniac, there are Himanshu Kumar and Kush Kanoria (both from Dhanbad) who bagged Sonata wristwatches from Parikh Sales.

Aarti Singh and Manjeet Kumar Soni (again both from Dhanbad) won couple dinner passes from Madhulika Hotel, while Pradeep Chatterjee and Nidhi Singh (Jamshedpur) won couple dinner passes from Ganga Regency.

Nilanjana Banerjee of Jamshedpur would be eating out too, but at Yashawee International.

Kavita Sinha and Pial Ghosh, both from Ranchi, would soon head towards Kaya Skin Clinic with gift vouchers in hand with three other winners, while Kishor Kumar and R. Ghazala (and three more winners) can avail the VLCC fitness tips when they collect their vouchers.

S. Banerjee, S. Shekhar Ambastha and Arpana Shailaly Tirkey are some of the winners of Aptech gift vouchers.

The event, being organised by the ABP Private Ltd, will continue for the next six weeks in Jharkhand.

So, bid. Bid like maniacs!
