Jamshedpur, Aug. 13: In a major employment boost for their students, the Xavier Institute of Tribal Education (XITE), Adityapur, has tied up with HDFC Bank Limited for employment stints with the banking major.

Students enrolled with the newly-launched Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at the institute would now get a chance to gain experience in the summer internship programmes at HDFC Bank.

The short-term programme of six weeks would commence for students to gain a strong foothold in the finance sector.

After that, the institute would finalise talks with leading names in this particular sector, enabling students to eventually get absorbed.

“This could be a very good opportunity for all our students. Hands-on training always gives students an extra edge over their contemporaries,” put in P.D Thomas, director of XITE.

The current batch strength of students enrolled for the BBA course at the institute stands at 100. All of them would work for the finance company in their training period.

Right from an experience in handling financial matters to gaining an in-depth knowledge in the administrative and marketing sectors, students would be placed in all departments to provide them with a better foothold in the market.

This welcome strategy would enable all the students to gain a thorough knowledge of the functioning of a bank, at macro and micro levels.

This is not all. After HDFC Bank Limited, the institute proposes to hold talks with leading names in the marketing and human resource sectors.

This would enable students to get sufficient exposure in a host of leading and sunrise industries, so that they could get jobs in leading companies after they graduate.

“We also have in mind small-scale industries situated in Adityapur. They are quality units where good learning can be facilitated,” added Thomas.

Moreover, XITE has also adopted major expansion plans for the institute in the coming days.

The existing building would be used as the administrative block once a new building comes up by the end of this year.

The new building would be next to the Gamharia Club. It would be the hub for education, while the existing one would be used for administrative purposes.

“Once we come up with the new building, we would conduct all degree and training programmes there. The existing one would be restricted to administrative work and coaching classes for economically weaker sections,” said Thomas.
