Jamshedpur, Oct. 22: Tata Steel proved its worth once again by winning the Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (Make) Asia Award for the fifth time since 2003.

Tata Steel vice-president (safety and long products) H. Jha received the award yesterday at a special ceremony organised at the 9th World Knowledge Forum at Seoul.

This year 16 companies from across Asia had been nominated for the award. Tata Steel was selected as the overall Asian Make winner and bagged the first position.

Earlier, the company was given second slot when it won the award in the year 2006. Tata Steel had also won the award in 2003, 2004 and 2007.

This year’s MAKE winners were chosen by a panel of Asian Fortune Global 500 business executives and leading knowledge management and intellectual capital experts.

Tata Steel bagged the first positions in driven enterprise culture, developing knowledge workers and delivering enterprise value.

“The 2008 Asian MAKE winners have been recognised as the leaders in creating a knowledge-driven corporate culture, developing knowledge leaders and workers, innovation, maximising enterprise intellectual capital, collaboration and know- ledge sharing, creating a learning organisation and transforming corporate knowledge into shareholder value,” said chief corporate affairs and communications Sanjay Chaudhury.

The MAKE study is part of Teleo’s MAKE research programme. The Asian MAKE study was established in 2002 to recognise organisations founded in Asia.
