Three Ranchi criminals allegedly supplied weapons to a land mafia don to kill two rival gangsters over 28 acres of prime land in Ranchi's posh Kanke area, the whole operation remote-controlled by two other jailed land dons.

These surprising facts came to light when Bablu Khan alias Enamul Haq, 38, was arrested on Sunday evening from his house in Chandwe with a carbine, a Sixer six-shot revolver, a 'lighter' pistol, 196 live bullets and three magazines.

Addressing the media on Monday, Ranchi SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi recounted what seems like a racy thriller baring the underbelly of Ranchi's realty business.

Apparently, Bablu was a conduit between weapons suppliers Rishikesh alias Babu, Rakesh Singh alias Dimpu and Ayush alias Chhotu and jailed land mafia dons Sujit Sinha and Sandeep Thapa.

Sujit and Sandeep, allegedly working together from Palamau and Ranchi central jails, respectively, wanted the 28 acres in Kanke, famously called the White House, for which they wanted rival gangster Bittu Mishra and aide Shailesh Singh eliminated.

SSP Dwivedi said Rishikesh, Rakesh and Ayush handed over the weapons to Bablu on Friday on instructions of Sujit and Sandeep.

"Raids are on to nab the arms suppliers," the SSP said.

Bablu, who met Sujit in jail in 2015, remained in touch even after he got out. In this specific case, it seems Sujit invested Rs 15 lakh through Bablu as a seed amount for the Kanke land. A plan was hatched to eliminate rivals Bittu and Shailesh, who had also evinced interest in the land.

During interrogation, Bablu confessed that Bittu's girlfriend Rita and Sujit's wife Soni allegedly managed the land business and invested money in the market.

After his arrest, a picture of Bablu with an AK-47 became viral on social media, but the criminal said it was a two-month-old photograph taken in Jehanabad district of Bihar where he had accompanied some of Sujit's aides to purchase sophisticated weapons and he had just posed with the AK-47.

Bablu's smartphone has dozens of videos which show him firing from pistols.

The White House land in Kanke has dubious suitors aplenty. The dossier of Jharkhand police Special Branch says 22 dreaded criminals are eying this land.

"To rein in criminals investing in land, the police have formed a Special Investigation Team to locate land, financial and arms sources, their pawns, and other aspects. Criminals are hugely investing in real estate, which is a big threat to law and order," the SSP said.

Ranchi police have submitted a dossier to Enforcement Directorate to confiscate 100 acres worth over Rs 75 crore in Ranchi belonging to jailed gangster Genda Singh under Prevention of Money Laundering Act provisions.
