Ranchi, June 18: Want to teach children morality lessons? No need to flip through heavy books or visit ashrams. Come October, simply sit in front of your TV set and watch Jumble Zoo, an animated film supported by a local NGO, on Delhi Doordarshan.

Being developed under the aegis of Delhi-based agency Seventh Cloud Pvt. Ltd, the film would focus on social, family and personal values that parents like to inculcate in children. It would also dwell on environmental issues as well as other emotional and behavioural issues.

All the problems would be treated in a light-hearted and humorous manner. The teachings would be imparted through animals attri- buted with human qualities.

Thirteen episodes that would be broadcast on Doordarshan are in the process of completion. The total project cost is Rs 20 lakh.

The film targets children in the age group of four-eight years. It is being developed with 2D and 3D animation features with English subtitles. There would also be DVD quality video. Audio in Hindi and other Indian languages would also be available.

The set-up of Jumble Zoo is an animal city, where different animals live peacefully and have a community running parallel to human beings.

G.V.S.R. Prasad, the secretary of Rohini Science Club, the NGO supporting the animated film, said Jumble Zoo would lay stress on education juxtaposed with laughter. Each episode of Jumble Zoo would be an experience that children want to live and learn.

Prasad said the film would mainly depict parent-child relationship, especially when a child is small.

“There are animals with different temperaments just like varying kinds of people. Some are good, some not so good, some are helpful while others bully, some wise, while others hollow. There are teachers, students and doctors. Each character has been fully developed to bring out the entertainment and anticipatory drama,” Prasad said.

“Apart from that, the episodes also provide counselling to parents who scold their child for minor mistakes,” Prasad said.

“We have already completed six to seven episodes of the animation film. Each episode of the film will be of 20 minutes’ duration,” Prasad said.
