Ranchi: The Ranchi branch of Amity University organised Amitech 2018, a technical fest, on its temporary campus on Main Road here on Friday to commemorate National Technology Day on May 11.

Jharkhand Space Application Centre director Sarvesh Singhal inaugurated the daylong fest comprising an array of technological and creative competitions.

Over 200 students of the university, that saw its Ranchi branch set up last year, took part in the various competitions which included War Tech-a debate on a technology-based topic, Counter Strike, Code Path-a computer programming contest, Robo War-a clash between self-made robots, Tech Star-a poster-making competition using Adobe Photoshop, an advertisement-making and a photography contest.

"This is for the first time we are celebrating the day," event convener and faculty member Biswarup Samanta told this correspondent.

"Robo War is an interesting event. I hope this one proves its worth," said Jameel Ahmad, an engineering student of the varsity, pointing at his sturdy robotic vehicle.

National Technology Day is celebrated on May 11 every year to commemorate India's second nuclear test conducted at Pokhran in 1998.
