Ranchi, Oct. 9: Senior BJP leader Chandan Mitra today turned up to console the family of slain Special Branch inspector Francis Indwar along with state party president Raghubar Das and senior leaders.
The BJP offered Rs 1 lakh in cash to the inspector’s widow, Sunita.
Mitra lashed out against both Naxalites and the state government.
“The Congress seems to be having little faith in democracy. While elections are being held in other states, Jharkhand has been left to fend for itself,” Mitra said.
He questioned the Congress’ real motive for delaying Assembly elections in the state in the name of holding the 34th National Games and described the move as a cruel joke on democracy.
“Perhaps the Congress wants to continue the President’s rule as they are under the delusion of gaining political mileage. But, the Games cannot be bigger than democracy. People want to know why Assembly elections have not been held here,” he said.
He, however, parried questions about infighting in the BJP, adding that such issues were being blown out of proportion. He claimed that the BJP was intact and all party members were committed to fight the new challenges ahead together.
