Ranchi, Sept. 1: In response to a petition, Jharkhand High Court directed the state government and the state election commission to file a counter affidavit for errors in the voter list for the coming panchayat elections.
The petitioner, Rajeev Oraon, a resident of a village in the Adar Panchayat of Gumla district, had moved the high court after their names were omitted from the voter lists in their respective villages.
After an inquiry into the matter, it was revealed that the names of villagers in the Adar panchayat were erroneously put up in the list of the neighbouring Bimrala panchayat.
Thereafter, complaints were lodged in the concerned offices and some errors were rectified.
However, the name of the petitioner was not corrected and his name continued to feature in the list of the Bimerala panchayat. It was only after this that Oraon decided to move the court against the concerned authorities.
In another case, the high court reserved its order in the matter of appointment of physical training teachers in primary schools in the state.
The petitioner, Mahendra Prasad, along with other candidates had appeared in the examination conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission(JPSC).
Prasad, who appeared in the exams from Deoghar, was declared eligible for being appointed as a teacher after having passing them
But despite Deoghar district having nine vacancies for physical training teachers in the primary level and six candidates having already cleared the exams, the petitioners were not appointed. and they had decided to move the court.
