Ranchi, Oct. 18: People are increasingly visiting the Lal Chand Bhagaria Acupresure Centre here for relief when they have not been able to get help to their health problems from other forms of treatment.
Rina Devi (30) from Dhanbad is one such person. She was constantly complaining about headaches, weakness and dryness in her mouth for the past eight years and had failed to respond to other treatments.
Finally, a friend of hers advised her to visit the acupressure centre here and she now claims to have found relief in this treatment after being subject to acupressure for five days.
Sharing her experience, Rina Devi said: ?I took all types of medications, ranging from homeopathic, allopathic to ayurvedic. But nothing seemed to improve my condition. But now, I have been visiting the centre and there has been a tremendous improvement in my condition. I am going to continue taking this treatment for another month for best results.?
Every day, more than 60 patients visit this centre, which is situated near Ranchi Lake, and they claim to have been cured or getting cured after undergoing treatment here.
Another patient, 40-year-old Sandhya Devi also expresses satisfaction with the treatment here. She was suffering from blood pressure, she said.
?Now my blood pressure has become normal after undergoing acupressure for the past six days,? she pointed out.
One of the doctors at the centre, Shiv Kumar Burman, said patients are coming here from as far away as Khunti, Dhanbad, Simdega, Ramgarh and Dumka.
?We have treated patients suffering from paralysis, migraine, asthma, stomach ailments, polio, eye problems and breast cancer,? he informed.
The centre has treated more than 2,055 patients in this 2005, said sources at the health centre.
?It is surprising to see such a huge number of patients turning up here. They have gained faith in acupressure, which was not so prominent two years ago. This method is cheap and is a boon for the poor,? informed Burman.
There are no major precautions to be taken during the course of the therapy. ?But patients should regularly undergo treatment and this is the only way to get proper treatment,? said the medic and added, ?We place methi and moong on the pressure points on a patient?s body. Then the paste is secured to the body by a tape so that constant pressure is available on that point.?
The in-charge here, Anil Kumar, said treatment is based on the anatomy and physiology of patients.
?We ascertain the basic cause of trouble of a patient based on scientific facts and then the pressure points on palm and foot of the person concerned is traced. With the help of these points, we treat the patient,? he explained.
Citing other examples, Burman said one of the patients, Kishori Prasad, was suffering from paralysis and could not move his hands and legs. He was confined to bed and had lost all hope.
?He visited the centre and underwent treatment for five months regularly. And now, he can walk,? he added.
