Ranchi, Nov. 8: The city will soon be mall-nourished.

The residents, who so far had to remain content with Eylex, will get another hangout zone by March 2010. JD Hi Street Mall opposite GEL Church Complex will be a one-stop destination for food, shopping and entertainment.

Spread over 18,000sqft area, the upcoming multiplex-cum-shopping destination is being constructed by a city-based firm, Jokhiram Durga Dutta.

The ground plus eight floor structure will have three-level basement area for parking of 100 cars, retail stores, food court, three-lane bowling alley and a 3-screen multiplex.

The sphere-shaped multiplex will seat 750 people together. The two small screens have a capacity of 150 each while another can seat a total of 450 people at a time.

Delhi-based architect Saurabh Gupta has been commissioned to give the finishing touches to the mall.

“It will be a one-of-its-kind experience for shoppers,” said proprietor of the mall Anurag Sarawagi.

He added that here people would get International brands also. “We want to provide wholesome entertainment to the people of the area and want to make the multiplex much like the ones that we find in metropolitan cities,” he said.

Apart from multiplex, equipped with latest sound system, real life sound effects and state-of-the-art projection facility, one will also get to dig into lip-smacking food.

Indian, Continental, Chinese, Thai and Mexican dishes will be served hot at the mall.

Sarawagi pointed out that there would be one food court with eight counters catering different cuisines and with a seating capacity of 200 people at a time.

The city will also get another multiplex, Uphaar, at Ratu Road by December this year. Though the ticket prices have not been fixed yet, the authorities assured that the rates will not be too high.

In the past two years, many halls such as Vishnu Talkies, Uphaar, Sandhya and Ratan Talkies were closed down because of low footfall.
