Jamshedpur, April 27: After Gladrags mega model Simran Sachdev took the city by storm in October last year, it is now time for the school and college students to rub shoulders with the svelte Parmita Katkar, Femina Miss India Asia-Pacific 2003.

She will visit the city in June for the inter-school, college “Design your T-shirt contest.” Parmita would also be visiting schools and colleges to interact with the students. Her trip will be sponsored by the National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFD).

According to Neetu Chopra of NIFD, Parmita has already confirmed her visit. “We will organise the inter-school, college ‘Design your T-shirt contest’ in June. The winner of the competition will get an opportunity to dine with Parmita,” Neetu told The Telegraph.

She added that the NIFD would also conduct three seminars on T-shirt designing. “We will visit the schools and colleges to hold seminars so that students can at least have an idea of what T-shirt designing is all about. Some schools have already confirmed their participation,” Neetu added.

Shedding light on the event, Neetu said 8-10 students of each schools and colleges would display their skills on T-shirt designing. The winner would not only be awarded by Parmita, but would get a free dinner offer. “We are very excited and are looking forward to the event,” she said.

Sources at the NIFD said Parmita, who would be pairing with Manoj Bajpai in Intequam and Udai Chopra in Supaari, would conduct personality development sessions for students.

After the competition, Parmita, who last year won the Miss Perfect 10 award, would attend a function in the evening in which she would try to satisfy the queries of wannabe models and actors. “The T-shirt designing competition would lend a platform to students, who are inclined towards fashion designing. It is a good opportunity for them to showcase their talents before an emerging film actress,” said Neetu.

She added that the NIFD was in regular touch with Parmita and the exact date of her visit to the city would be finalised soon. “She is a busy person with a number of film and modelling assignments in her kitty. She has confirmed that she will be coming in June but the exact date has not yet been finalised. It will be done in a day or two,” said Neetu.
