New Delhi, Sept. 14 (PTI): WhatsApp today opposed in Delhi High Court a plea alleging that its users' privacy was threatened by a new policy announced by Facebook.
WhatsApp had made changes to its privacy policy on August 25, the first time since it was acquired by Facebook, giving users the option of sharing data with the social networking giant.
WhatsApp counsel Siddharth Luthra said the application did not share users' private messages, contents, photos or data with Facebook. Only a user's name and phone number were shared, he said.
"WhatsApp does not have access to any data as it provides end-to-end encryption. We only have access to the person's name and number.... We are abiding by the central government's regulations for messenger apps."
