A five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court has ruled that the Aadhaar scheme that collects biometric data from every citizen of India and assigns to them a national identity card, does not infringe on the their right to privacy and is Constitutionally valid. The apex court, however, also struck down several provisions of the Aadhaar Act. Here are the key takeaways from today’s landmark verdict.
