New Delhi, Jun 20 (PTI) : MSM Satellite Pvt Ltd, which owns Sony Six, the authorised broadcaster of FIFA 2014 World Cup, moved the Delhi High Court on Friday contending its exclusive rights to stream matches of the international event on the internet are being infringed by certain websites.
A bench of justices Siddharth Mridul and Sunita Gupta listed the matter for hearing on June 23 after advocate Saikrishna Rajagopal mentioned the petition before it.
Multi Screen Media (MSM) is an Indian company that was formerly Sony Entertainment Television India Pvt Ltd. MSM is the authorised broadcaster of the FIFA 2014 World Cup in the Indian subcontinent and holds exclusive rights for telecast as well streaming the matches.
The counsel sought an early listing of the matter on the ground that, as several websites are interfering with its rights, “with each passing day, I (MSM) am suffering”.
The tournament, which started in Brazil on June 12, is scheduled to conclude on July 13.
