Ab tumhare hawale watan sathiyo, Anil Sharma?s extravagant war opus has got itself into a bit of a wedge. The Army has taken umbrage to some of the scenes. The film was originally scheduled for release today (December 3). But now it seems unclear as to when Sharma would be able to release the film.
Says the harrowed director, ?It?s true that the Army clearance is awaited regarding a few things in the film. We are expecting clearance any day. But until we do, I can?t announce another release date.
Tentatively, I?d say Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyo is due now either on December 17 or 24.
Ab Tumhare?. is the story of three generations of Army officers played by Amitabh Bachchan, and Bobby Deol in a double role as father and son. The film encompasses the entire gamut of India?s battle with Pakistan, from the 1971 war to the Kargil conflict.
This isn?t the first war film to get into censor trouble. Some years ago the Armed Forces had objected to Amitabh playing an Army officer with a beard in Tinu Anand?s Major Saab. But careless whiskers seem to be the least of the problems with Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyo. It remains to be seen whether the expensive film would get a release before the year ends.
