New Delhi: The Indian Science Congress, the country's largest annual scientific congregation scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Osmania University, Hyderabad, on January 3, has been "indefinitely postponed" after concerns about "disturbance" on the campus, the organisers said.
Two organisers preparing for the five-day conference said the decision to postpone the event was conveyed to them through a letter by the Osmania University vice-chancellor on Wednesday.
"We are disheartened," Achyuta Samangta, general president of the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) Council, the Calcutta-based body that organises the annual meeting, said.
