Calcutta, Dec 23 :     Former Calcutta High Court judge Padma Rani Khastgir died on Thursday at a city nursing home after a prolonged illness. She was 67 and is survived by a daughter and a son. Khastgir was a judge of High Court from June 1977 to June 1993. After retiring, she joined the Congress and was elected councillor of the Calcutta Municipal Corporation and was made leader of the Opposition. She resigned as councillor on health grounds. Justice Khastgir became a barrister in London in 1955. She was enrolled as a lawyer in Calcutta High Court in 1957.
