Amid the spurt in Monkeypox cases abroad, the Union government on Friday launched a surveillance at all international entry pointslike airports, seaports and land border crossings, according to hindustantimes.com.

All samples of travellers from Africa, that show symptoms will be sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for further probe.

As per news agency ANI which quoted an official, "Send samples (to NIV, Pune) only in such cases where people display certain specific symptoms. Not samples of sick passengers."

Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) will hold an emergency meeting to discuss Monkeypox, following more than 100 cases either detected or suspected in Europe.
