Imphal, March 24 :     Suspected militants blew up three 132-KV electric posts with bombs at Yarou Bamdiar in Bishenpur district last night. State police officers said militants attempted to blow up four posts, but managed to destroy only one of them. The blast will impede transmission of power from the Loktak hydel project to Imphal. The police recovered 150 gram explosives from the site, which was manufactured by two companies in Vellore and Wardha. The explosives were in four envelopes covered with polythene and tied with coconut fibre ropes. Deputy inspector-general (range) of Manipur police N. Shyamananda Singh and Bishenpur superintendent of police visited the site for spot inquiries. Details are awaited. Police suspect the banned Peoples? Liberation Army (PLA) to have engineered the blast. Local residents heard three loud blasts at about 11.30 pm.
